MISSING MY SWEET SASHA BELLE

On September 30, 2011 my sweet girl Sasha Belle went back to the One who created her.  Unbeknown to us, Sasha had a cancerous tumor growing in her abdomen.  On Friday morning over one week ago, that tumor ruptured and Sasha began to bleed to death internally.  We came home from the store and found her listless on the floor.  I immediately looked at her gums to check her color and was horrified to find that her gums were deathly pale.  It was then that I knew something was terribly wrong.

We rushed her up to our emergency pet hospital just blocks from our house, but there was nothing anyone could do.  No amount of medicine or money could fix my baby girl.  Instead of letting her succumb to the internal bleeding on her own, I chose to send her off in a more peaceful way.  I was with her the whole time.  I put my face against her face and talked to her while letting the oxygen blow in her face to make her passing more comfortable.  I held up until she was gone and then.....I lost it.  Sobs wracked my body as I tried to come to grips with saying goodbye to her.  Just hours before, she was alert and active and barking at squirrels.  The sudden onset and fatal results, left me in a state of shock.

As I sit here only a mere nine days out from her passing, I find comfort in the memories of the happy life she lived.  She lived life to the fullest EVERY day......a smile plastered on her face as she tore things up, dug holes, chased squirrels, and relished every morsel of food.  She lived a full life in her short eight years.  I miss her so much.  She will live on in my heart as I walk the rest of my journey on this earth.  I know I will see her in heaven someday, for our God said in His Holy Word:  "He preserves both man and beast." Psalm 36:6  In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if Sasha was digging up the Lord's flower beds as we speak.  I miss you baby girl!

We will all miss Sasha...what a gal! I agree that she is probably keeping all of the others up in Heaven...on their toes and loving it. xo

My heart goes out to you, Michelle :(
We lost our sweet dog, Jack suddenly, too, two years ago and still feel the loss. We hold on to Psalm 36:6, also, knowing the Lord is gracious and He promises to restore all things, including the earth and animals.

Oh Michelle....so sorry for your loss.
I bet Sasha has met our beloved 'Leo' over that bridge. I think they will have a lot in common.
Aire-hugs,
