WINTER DAY 2011

This morning we woke up to a winter wonderland.  Here is a shot of the backyard with the chicken coop.  The netting was sagging low under the weight of the snow and I had to bump it off with the rake before it tore.

What I like most about the snow, besides it making a perfect baking day, is the fact that even a messy winter garden/yard can look pretty.

I will feed the birds today, as they will have a difficult time finding food under the snow cover.  To think that just the other day I was looking at the garden beds and planning my spring garden.  And as you can see in the picture below, the hens have been busy laying despite the burst in winter whiteness.

I hope everyone has a great day no matter what the weather in your neck of the woods.

Everything does look good with the snow cover. I love that your girls really do lay a bunch of different colors.

Thanks guys, I also love the various colors of eggs my hens lay. It's just part of the charm of having a different variety of chickens breeds.
