Imagine my surprise when I went out the coop to gather the eggs and came across this mini egg. The egg on the left is a regular size egg and the egg on the right is the mini egg. Really? I don't have any Quail or other small bird, so what gives? Does anybody have any insight you could share with me? My hens are a mix of ages, with the oldest at 4yrs and the youngest 2yrs old. I am puzzled by this and will be doing my research. When I come up with an answer, I will post it here. In the meantime, I open the floor for any input.

How strange! I don't have a clue at all...very strange indeed! xo
One of our hens laid the tiniest little egg last year. They had been laying normal size eggs and then - this wee little miniature egg :-) They have also laid the odd egg with no shell! Just a kind of skin round it - very weird - but our chicken book said it is normal for this to happen now and again and not to worry as long as it's not happening all the time. Leigh (Magic's Mum)
