DINNER ON THE FLY

Ever have one of those days when making anything remotely complicated for dinner, causes your mind to melt?  Well, tonight was one of those nights for me.  In desperate need of a trip to the grocery store, my options for a balanced dinner was near nil.  So, I made up a concoction in one pan that ended up looking something like this:

It's a mixture of oriental noodles, pinto beans, peas, carrots and scrambled egg.  Yummm....sounds mouth watering, doesn't it?  Well, it was edible, anyway.  And to top it off, I thought some nice grainy bread would be good to dip in.......however, if you buy bread from a bakery outlet, I suggest checking the loaf over carefully before freezing it for further use........or else this will greet you:

Ah yes, anyone for some Penicillin for dinner?  Take my word for it, check the bread before freezing!  Needless to say, we didn't eat any of this fine dose of drugs with our dinner.  An English muffin would suffice for this meal.  So there you have it, a Sunday meal disaster.  Anyone want to come sup at our house?

That dinner kind of sounds like the "Buddy" we used to have as kids minus the side of penicillin.

I only have a vague memory of "Buddy" that mom used to make for us when we were kids. Guess I was too young to remember it in detail. But tonight's dinner reminded me of how mom got us through tough times by making things fun and interesting.
